Guide to Elgin, Moray
Becoming a Royal Burgh in the 12th century under King David I of Scotland, Elgin is the central administrative hub for the council area of Moray. With a population of around 24,000 and the total for Moray being around 93,000 people, the main local industries are Food & Drink, Manufacturing, Tourism, and Agriculture. With Whisky Distilling, Shortbread, and Cashmere Woollens being particularly notable. An excellent resource to explore the local heritage and history is Elgin Library, which also offers temporary visitor facilities like Internet and Wi-Fi access.
